Collectively, our team boasts over 50 years of experience in the medical, pathology, and molecular fields. To accommodate our company’s growth, we engage locum pathologists and consult with medical and research professionals. At Umane, team members experience a sense of partnership, belonging, and the opportunity to make a difference through their commitment to excellence and exceptional service delivery. We’ve streamlined our operations by outsourcing non-core functions such as IT, payroll, accounts, and auditing to specialists, allowing our team to focus exclusively on our core competency in pathology.

Dr Louise de Villiers

Director, Anatomical Pathologist

After completing her medical training, Louise spent three years working abroad in clinical and internal medicine in both the UK and New Zealand. Upon her return to South Africa, she pursued further education at the Department of Anatomical Pathology at the University of Stellenbosch. During this time, she developed a strong sense of integration between clinical and non-clinical medicine. Louise then gained three years of valuable experience working in a Pathology Laboratory before deciding to establish her own laboratory, supported by a dedicated and cohesive team.

Nandipha Mxotyeni

B-Tech; ND (Biomedical Technology)

Laboratory Manager

Nandipha obtained her National Diploma in Biomedical Technology from Durban Institute. Following a two-year internship, she pursued a B Tech degree at Durban University of Technology. Nandipha has a diverse background, with five years of experience as a Medical Technologist in Forensic Pathology before transitioning to Histology. In total, she brings thirteen years of expertise to her role in Histology, including six years as a Laboratory Manager.
